Practice
Henri Alvarez articled at the firm
now known as Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP and was admitted to the British
Columbia Bar in 1981. After spending two years studying International Law and
arbitration at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva,
Switzerland, he rejoined the firm and practices in the Litigation and Dispute
Resolution Department.
Henri has expertise in the field of
international commercial arbitration and dispute resolution, in which he has
taught a course at the Faculty of Law at the University of British Columbia
since 1985. He is an experienced arbitrator and has acted as an arbitrator and
as counsel in international and domestic commercial arbitrations involving
investments, trade, franchising,
licensing, distributorship,
construction, forestry and general commercial disputes. Henri also appears as
counsel in mediations and has acted as a mediator in both international and
domestic matters on a number of occasions. He is a Chapter 19 Panelist under
the North American Free Trade Agreement. Henri is the leader of the firms
Latin American and International Dispute Resolution Practice Groups.
