Mr. Harry L. Arkin is engaged in the
practice of domestic and international law relating to
business/corporation/company matters, construction disputes and alternative
dispute resolution (ADR). Mr. Arkin has offices in Denver and London and
attended the University of Colorado and the College of Law of the University of
Denver. He was admitted to the Colorado Bar in 1957 and to the bar of the
Supreme Court of the United States in 1965.
Mr. Arkin often acts in
international and domestic commercial and construction cases as an arbitrator
and advocate as well as being an author and frequent lecturer in the fields of
international commercial contracts and dispute resolution.
Mr. Arkin serves as an Adjunct
Professor at the University of Denver where he has taught International
Commercial Dispute Resolution at the College of Law, the Graduate School of
Business, and the Graduate School of International Studies. He has also
lectured at the University of Dundee in Scotland and was the first North
American to serve as a course director for The (English) Chartered
Institute of Arbitrators directing the Advanced Special Fellowship course of
that organization in Berlin of 1996.
Mr. Arkin holds the highest
professional rating (i.e., A. V.) granted by the Martindale Hubbell
Law Directory.
Mr. Arkin is listed in the Bar
Register of Preeminent Lawyers under the category of International Business
Law, and is also listed in Euromoneys Guide to the Worlds
Leading Experts & Lawyers in Commercial Arbitration. He is an Overseas
Member of the International Arbitration Club (London) and is a member of the
International as well as the American and local Bar Associations. He is a
member and panelist of the American Arbitration Association, a Chartered
Arbitrator, Panelist, Fellow and Tutor of The Chartered Institute of
Arbitrators (of England)and Chairman of its North American Branch, a member of
the North American Users Council of the London Court of International
Arbitration, a Director of ADR Chambers International (Toronto, Ontario,
Canada), and numerous other legal and dispute resolution professional
organizations.
Mr. Arkin is also an arbitration
panelist of, among others, the British Columbia International Commercial
Arbitration Centre, the Regional Centre for International Commercial
Arbitration - Cairo, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, the United
Nations World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and one of only a few
Americans approved as an arbitrator by the China International Economic and
Trade Arbitration Commission (PRC).
In addition to service as sole and
panel arbitrator or advocate in various domestic and international trade
association, institutional and ad hoc arbitrations in the U.S. and abroad, Mr.
Arkin also serves as a mediator in commercial and construction cases as well as
special counsel to law firms involved in arbitration, mediation and
conciliation proceedings.
