The Rt Hon The Lord Bridge was educated at Malborough College and from 1935 — 1939 was a Journalist.

January 1940 to April 1946: Army service. Commissioned May 1941, King’s Royal Rifle Corps. Transferred to GHQ Liaison Regiment and served in Italy (1943) and North-West Europe (June 1944 to end of war in Europe). From December 1944 to May 1945 serve as British liaison officer with United States 7^th Army. Awarded United States Bronze Star.
