Past extensive Crown Court experience including charge for half the year of the Snaresbrook Crown Court and County Court.

Main duties for many years at the Royal Courts of Justice in the Family Division for 8 months each year.

Additional extensive duties at the Mayor’s and City of London Court sitting in commercial cases and tort cases, involving personal injuries. Also sittings at Central London County Court in the same jurisdiction, as well as Middlesex Crown Court.

Appointed part-time Judge by Lord Chancellor 2000.

Legal Assessor of the General Medical Council and General Dental Council 2000.

Non-Executive Director of Frank Cass and Vallentine Mitchell – both publishers.

Senator and now Governor of the University of London 1978 to date. Active in all its working committees including the Careers Advisory Board.

Governor of Birbeck College since 1982.

Chairman of its Disciplinary Committee and Investment Committee at the time of the Barings crisis. Helped to promote the establishment of the College Law Department. Promoted the establishment of professorships in financial economics for evening studies.

Governor of London School of Economics since 1990.

Court of City University since 1991.

United Kingdom Governor of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem since 1992.

Active in the Jewish community, its communal bodies and as patron of the Friends of Progressive Judaism in Israel and Europe.

Involved in the setting up of the Sir John Balcombe Research fund in Family Law and the creation of the Lord Taylor of Gosforth project for major research into vital aspects of criminal law, to commemorate their work, at the Hebrew University.

Fellow of the Society of Advanced Legal Studies.

In July 2000 accredited by Notre Dame Law School, London as a certified mediator in Alternative Dispute Resolution as sponsored by ADR Chambers (UK) Limited.
