Professional Experience
1958 1990
Practising barrister
specialising in international commercial law, including shipping and
arbitration, as both advocate and arbitrator.
1990 1998
Sat both as Circuit Judge trying
commercial cases and also frequently as deputy Judge of the High Court
(principally in the Commercial Court).
Was the prime mover in setting
up the specialist Business List of the Central London County Court of which he
was in charge.
Although unable to take part in
arbitrations whilst a judge, has maintained a close interest in arbitration law
and practice. Played an important role in the discussions leading up to the
enactment of the Arbitration Act 1996. Played a central role in the drafting of
the Rules of Court required by that Act. Has drafted private rules of
arbitration and has written and lectured extensively on arbitration law and
practice.
His Hon Anthony Diamond QC was
accredited by Notre Dame Law School, London in January 2000 as a Certified
Mediator in Alternative Dispute Resolution, as sponsored by ADR Chambers (UK)
