Mary Hetherington is a member of ADR
Chambers, Western Region. ADR Chambers is an Alternative Dispute Resolution
Group which offers ADR services in the form of Mediations, Arbitrations,
Neutral Evaluations, Mini-Trials, Med-Arbs, and Private Appeals on consent,
from Arbitration Awards and Trial Judgments.
Mary received her B.A. from
Queens University, Kingston, Ontario, 1954 and her LL.B. from Dalhousie
University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, 1963. She was admitted to the Bar of the
Province of Alberta in 1964 and from 1967 to 1978 was a sole practitioner in
Calgary, Alberta.

Achievement Award
Mary Hetherington was very active in
legal education throughout her career at the Bar and on the Bench. As a member
of the judiciary, she participated in various seminars given by the National
Judicial Institute, the Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice
and the Legal Education Society of Alberta. In particular, she was involved for
many years in the trial advocacy and appellate advocacy seminars conducted by
the Legal Education Society of Alberta. In addition, she was engaged as a
resource person in judgment writing seminars given by the CIA in Alberta.
ADR Interests
Mary Hetherington took an interest
in alternative dispute resolution some years ago, having received training from
the National Judicial Institute in 1977. More recently, in 2001, she completed
an ADR workshop offered by Stitt Feld Handy Houston ADR Limited, Toronto,
receiving a certificate of qualification in ADR.
Mary Hetherington has a wide range
of experience in various aspects of law and is available for all forms of
alternative dispute resolution, including, in particular, mediation,
arbitration and on consent, private appeals from trial judgments and arbitral
awards.
