Ramon Mullerat, O.B.E., was born in
Barcelona in 1939. He has a law degree from the Law School of the Barcelona
University with Extraordinary Graduate Award.
He was a Professor of Civil and
European Law at the School of Law of the Barcelona University; President of the
British Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona (1988 1989); Director of the
Trias de Bes i Giró Summer University on International Legal
Relationships; Spanish Representative in the Council of the Bars and Law
Societies of the European Community (CCBE) Company Law Committee (1987
1991). He was President of the CCBE in 1996.
He is a member of the Barcelona
(Member of Council, 1987 1990), Madrid and Tarragona Bar Associations;
The Florida Bar (Honorary Member, International Law Committee); the Union
Internationale des Avocats; the American Law Institute (ALI); the American
Bar Association (ABA); and the Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of
Catalonia. Chairman of the International Bar Association Human Rights
Institute (HRI) Committee 1; Honorary Member of the Bar Council of England
& Wales and Honorary Legal Adviser of the British Chamber of Commerce of
Barcelona.
At present, he is arbitrator of the
International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), a member of the London Court of
International Arbitration (LCIA) and member of ADR Chambers International.
Chairman of the Editorial Board of
The European Lawyer magazine, he is author of many legal books,
publication and lectures on, among others, succession law, foreign investment,
product liability, environment, company and financial law, legal ethics and
e-commerce.
